MATERIAL AND METHODS:
Type of study: observational, descriptively, transverse study.
Area of the study: urban centre in Valencia, Spain.
Subjects: Systematic selection of patients included in the program LDT.
Measurements and interventions: there was realized a random selection of all the patients included in the LDT program. The variables were: age, sex, labour situation and prescribed medication: cerebral vasodilator (VD), anti-haemorrhage drugs (AH), anti-inflammatory (AI), muscle-relaxant (MR), antipsychotic (AP), anxiolytic/hypnotic (A/HYP), antidepressants (AD), anti-asthmatic (AA) and inhibitors of gastric acid secretion (IGAS). Using the guide of pharmacological therapy: MEDIMECUM 2006.
RESULTS:
The average of patients age is 70 years old. Of a whole of 384 patients: 38% men and 62 % women. The prescribed treatments: 14.9 %VD, 14.9 % VT, 14.3%AI, 5.4 % TOPICAL-AI, 1.8 % MR, 1.5 % AP, 24.3 % A/HYP, 14.9 % AD, 6.52 % AA, 24.5 % IGAS. The 36% of the patients with anti-inflammatory, takes associated gastroprotector treatment. There is a 64% without gastroprotection.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. The characteristic of the patient is a pensioner woman of 70 years old, who takes anxiolytic treatment.
2. The 36% of the patients included in LDT who take anti-inflammatory treatment, don´t take gastroprotection associated.
There is deduced that a high percentage of the population takes chronic anxiolytic treatment (increase of the effect of psychiatric disorders), and there is a high number of people taking anti-inflammatory drugs without gastroprotection.
