BACKGROUND/AIM:
To analyse contemporary data from various studies conducted at different countries of the northern hemisphere in order to estimate and explain the potential effect of geographic latitude on age at menarche.
METHODS:
The available literature was browsed for published papers on age at menarche via Medline. Thirty-two papers with various sample sizes (142-15998 observations) were included in the study.
